Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs): 10 Answers to the Most Searched Questions

CE Hours 1.5

About this course

This course explores the neurobiological and psychological impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the mitigating power of Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs). Structured around ten of the most frequently searched questions regarding childhood trauma, the session moves beyond risk identification to focus on clinical pathways for resilience and flourishing. Learners will gain a deep understanding of how relational health and emotional safety act as "medicine" to facilitate healing in both children and adults.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify the 10 core domains of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) questionnaire and their correlation with adult chronic illness.
  • Describe the seven specific Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) that serve as neurobiological buffers against toxic stress.
  • Explain the "Positivity Paradox" and how relational connection facilitates the integration of traumatic experiences.
  • Apply clinical strategies to foster "Family Resilience" by identifying strengths in communication and emotional regulation.
