Eating Disorders: 10 Answers to the Most Searched Questions

CE Hours 1.5

About this course

This course explores the complex clinical landscape of eating disorders through the lens of the ten most searched questions on the internet. Led by a board-certified psychiatrist, the curriculum moves beyond behavioral symptoms to address the brain-based biological and genetic underpinnings of these conditions. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of diverse diagnoses—including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and ARFID—while learning to identify medical risks and navigate multidisciplinary treatment pathways. Learners will leave better equipped to provide weight-inclusive, evidence-based care that fosters long-term recovery.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the biological, genetic, and environmental factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of eating disorders.
  • Identify common medical complications associated with malnutrition, specifically regarding bone health and electrolyte imbalances.
  • Differentiate between "disordered eating" and a diagnosable "eating disorder" based on functional impairment and medical compromise.
  • Describe the "multidisciplinary team" model required for eating disorder treatment, including the specific roles of medical, psychiatric, and dietary professionals.
